As you may have been aware, some discussion has been taking place regarding hosting a shoot, and now, after some talk with the Rugby Club for free dates, I am happy to announce we will be reinstating our old Pies and Peas shoot! This will take place at 6pm on March 19th 2011, on the main pitch under the floodlights, and consists of a National (and Junior National) round followed by some grub. I have attached the entry form which contains full details, so I really hope you can join in! I would also like to ask if anyone would be willing to help out on the day with setting up / taking down the field. It would be much appreciated! Please let me know if you'd be able to help. :-) I will be sending out the details to local clubs, so hopefully we can get quite a turnout! MegAttachments:

We currently have 5 entries (maximum is 48 I believe, due to the number of targets we have available if we are shooting 4 to a boss) which is a good start! :-)

That's a great start! Many shoots have to wait weeks for their first entries. We'll probably see numbers build during the second half of February.

Well, as of today, when I received a staggering 8 entries in the post, we now have 20 entries for the pies and peas shoot! :-)
So far 5 entries from Phoenix have been received.
We also have our first junior entry (recurve), and the other entries currently consist of 6 ladies (5 recurves, 1 compound) and 13 gents (8 recurves, 2 longbows, 1 barebow, 2 compounds) shooting.
Keep 'em coming! :-)

Just for an update; We now have 30 (out of a maximum of 48) entries for the shoot, with more expected! A lot of local archers are flocking to enter, and currently there are 8 entries from Phoenix. The current breakdown of entries is; 6 ladies (5 recurve, 1 compound) 21 gents (15 recurve, 2 longbow, 1 barebow, 3 compound) 3 juniors (2 recurve, 1 compound) I would also like to ask if anyone is available / willing to help on the night; we currently need assistance with the setting up / taking down of the equipment. Please can you let me know if you would be willing to help. I will be sending out an email to the club so this will be circulated to all members. Any help would be appreciated! :-) Thank you.

Thanks to all those who have offered help on Saturday, it is much appreciated! It looks like we will have many hands to help out. :-) The shooting field is also now full - wow! We have a lot of people coming from surrounding clubs, so, hopefully it will be a good night and a good chance to mingle with some fresh faces! :-) See you there, those who are coming!

Hi all!
Yesterday evening was the pies & peas floodlit shoot. I'm happy to report that the evening went spectacularly! Lots of archers descended on Phoenix for the shoot, we had around 40 archers on the shooting line for a national round (and junior variants). The floodlights and full shooting line, not to mention a clear sky with a large rising full moon, made for a very atmospheric shoot and everyone seemed to have a great time mingling and shooting. The pies and peas went down a storm, and I had many people thanking us for organising the shoot and hoping for one next year! It pretty much couldn't have gone better - what more could we ask for!
I would like to say a really heartfelt thank you to everyone from Phoenix who made this possible both in the run up to the shoot and on the night. It would not have been possible without the aid of those who helped out. We are one well oiled machine, it would appear!
Thanks once again.
Kind regards,
Meg

I still can't quite believe how well it went - what a great night! Thanks to Meg, who worked her chuff off, and to all other club members who made this shoot a real success.
